From the librarian…
The library is on the lower level directly
below the sanctuary. During the past
two years we have more than doubled its
capacity due to the encouragement of the
property committee, the generosity of
the church board, and individual members
who have donated many hours of work and
many new books.
Our largest selection of books is the
nonfiction group which covers more than
onewall. You will find many authors
here: Lucado, Eareckson, Dr. Dobson,
Rick Warren, Beth Moore and Philip
Yancey. Labels on the shelves help you
look for just the right topic:
inspiration, prayer, daily devotions,
help for specific problems. The next
largest genre is fiction and we try to
limit those books to what we call
Christian fiction. The book must have a
Christian theme running through it. We
have many wonderful authors that are
popular with our members: Jan Karon,
Karen Kingsbury, Lori Wick, Wanda
Brunstetter, Jane Kirkpatrick, Janette
Oke, Liz Curtis Higgs and Beverly Lewis.
We added more than 40 books to our
children’s section this year. We have
some beautiful books by well-known
authors. We have some books for teens;
we have some videos. We have some
cookbooks, craft books, computer
technology, medical encyclopedias, and
golf books. The next area we will
concentrate on will be the resource
books. While we have a few great sets
of books for teachers, preachers, and
scholars, we see a need for more
commentary for our teachers. Memorial
money will be used to upgrade this
section.
We invite you to use your library. It
is a comfortable place to browse or sit
and read. You are always welcome to
make use of the facilities. Notebooks
containing our current titles are on the
desk, and the card catalog is also
available on the this web page.
If you have difficulty accessing the
library let the librarians know and we
will be glad to carry books to you. We
do not consider this an imposition.
If you wish to donate new books in
memory of, or in honor of someone, let
us know or contact the office.
