We believe
this
ministry is
God inspired
and all that
has been
accomplished
through this
ministry is
through our
following
his commands
of the
scripture of
Matthew 25:
35-40. We
give all the
glory and
blessing of
this
ministry to
our Lord
Jesus
Christ. May
we continue
to be led by
the spirit
in this
ministry.
The
mission of
the food
ministry is
to
distribute
in an
unbiased way
to any one
that asks,
and meets
the guide
lines of the
United
States Dept.
of
Agriculture,
(U.S.D.A).
This
ministry was
started in
1996 mostly
to provide
assistance
to members
families and
friends of
the church.
Starting the
numbers were
5-10
families per
month, but
this
ministry
took off
dramatically
shortly
after its
beginning to
the point of
750-850
families
being served
per month.
At the
present time
needless to
say this
ministry has
had growing
pains
through this
time frame.
But the Lord
has provided
all that has
been needed
to make this
ministry
work. He has
provided
funding and
equipment,
but most of
all
volunteers.
Without
the
volunteers
it would not
be possible.
Everyone is
very
important in
some
capacity to
this
ministry. We
have 20-25
volunteers
from the
Middle
School every
Monday and
Wednesday ,
which have
proven to be
a good , but
most of all
for the
students
involved.
They learn a
lot about
life in this
program.
Another
point in
this program
is the
delivery of
food to five
low income
senior
housing
areas in our
community.
The
latest
addition to
our program
is the Food
for Kid
program.
This program
is
administered
through the
Benevolence
Ministry,
with Food
Ministry
securing and
storing the
products for
this
program.
Funding for
this mission
is provided
through the
general
budget of
the church,
as well as
donations by
individuals
and
businesses
in the
community.
The food for
this mission
is donated
by a private
organization
and Second
Harvest Food
Bank located in Gray,
Tennessee.
